Sara Morganti
(ITA) Ryttare paradressyr
Sara Morganti was born in 1976 in Barga, a little town in Tuscany were she lived until I was 22 years old. At that age she got married and soon I went to live in Pisa because her husband who is an Officer was and still is located there.
She began riding at age 13 originally following her big sister. The sport has made her happy since she was a girl. Horses have always made her feel free and far from any kind of problem.
After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1995, when Sara was 19 years old, she continued to ride for pleasure. However, Sara missed the competitive aspect of the sport, so as soon as she discovered Paradressage in 2005 she took up this activity.
Sara’s International debut was in 2009 and since then she has won 2 Gold Medals at WEG in 2018, a Gold Medal in the Freestyle Test and a Silver Medal in the Individual Test at WEG in 2014, four Bronze Medals at the European Championship (one in 2009, 2 in 2013, 1 in 2015).
At the start of 2014 she was presented the Pegaso de Oro, given annually to Tuscany’s Sportsman of the Year. Later that year she was given the St. Christopher de Oro award from the city of Barga in Italy, that recognises a person who has brought honour to the country.
Sara was fourth at London Paralympic Games and fourth at the WEG in 2010. Sara has won 23 Italian Championships and she was always one the Podium in the CPEDI 3*.
Sara has two beautiful horses: the great Champion Royal Delihght and Ferdinand di Fonte Abeti who is slowlygetting better and better. Sara trains every day in Pisa at Terre Brune Equestrian Centre and she has two fantastic coaches: Laura Conz and Alessandro Benedetti who has trained Sara since 2013.
Sara was presented many awards, and has been nominated from the Italian Paralympic Committee, Italian Paralympic Female Athlete of the Year 2019. In June 2018 she was named president of the athletes’ commission for the Italian Paralympic Committee.
Sara also has a University Degree in Foreign Languages and Litterature and I’m finishing my Master in Translation.
