Three day eventing star Oliver Townend is currently Britain’s number one-ranked horseman.
Oliver began riding when he was 7 years old. His first success came when he was 11, with his pony Cool Mule at the Horse of the Year Show. At 13 he went on to represent Britain on the Pony eventing team at the European Championships, and he quickly moved through the ranks.
In 2009 Oliver was the winner of many high profile events, Oliver and Flint Curtis won their first CCI**** at Badminton and Oliver then went on to win Burghley CCI**** on his other top grey horse, Andrew Cawthray’s Carousel Quest. He duly finished the season at the top of the British Eventing points table for the first time, having previously been top British rider. In 2014 Oliver finished in 2nd spot in the CCI**** at Badminton.
In 2016 Oliver made history in Adelaide as the first rider from the UK, to win the CIC3* at the Australian International Horse Trials. Riding Tim Boland’s Napoleon, Oliver finished on a score of 58.10. In 2017 Oliver recorded his 60th International win and also became the first British winner of the Loomes Championship, for the combination coming home closest to the cross country optimum time in the open intermediate and advanced intermediate sections.
Great results continue, with successive top placings at both national and international events.
