Matthew Wright

Matthew made his British senior squad debut as an individual at the 2005 European Championships at Blenheim, where he finished 13th with the home-bred coloured horse Park Pilot. He was second at Blenheim the year before on the same horse, with whom he also won a team silver medal at the young rider Europeans in 2002.
Matthew is a regular visitor to Ireland to compete, and among his successes he won the World Cup qualifier and the CCI** at Ballindenisk in 2006 (Park Pilot and Grove Joucas), the CCI** at Punchestown the same year (Singalong) and has done a one-two in the CCI** at Necarne twice (2007 If You Want II and L’Aristo Du Lado; 2008 Caunton Welldone and Hugginstown).
Matthew and If You Want II won the 2011 Express Eventing crown at the Horse of the Year Show, with a spectacular performance which had the crowd on the edge of their seats.
The Express Eventing win came at the end of a successful season for Matthew, who won at more than 25 one-day events, ridden to a win in the 2* three-day event at Ballindenisk with Fernhill Express, and secured the lion’s share of the £5,000 cottages4you accumulator bonus awarded for results at Belton, Hopetoun and Osberton.
The 2014 season opened with wins at Isleham & Oasby with Shannondale Shinawil, Great Witchingham International with Silken Scully, Burgham with Chelsey Mill and Silken Scully, Belton Park with Shannondale Shinawil and Baroque Du Vi , Burnham Market International with Mr Magic Marley and Keysoe with Little Man III, Chelsea Mills and Noisette des pres.
These days Matthew is focusing on producing young horses for the sports horse market.
